Selena Gomez : 'I Don't Like Hiding' My Relatioship with Justin Bieber

Despite donning matching outfits on Oscar night and essentially coming out as couple, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have still been coy about their relationship.

But now Gomez, who calls their Oscar after-party date 'our prom,' admits she's sick of acting like her romance with the pop star, 17, doesn't exist.

"I don't like hiding," Gomez tells Seventeen magazine. "I do like to keep certain things to myself, but at the end of the day, I'm 18 and I'm going to fall in love. I'm going to hang out with people and I'm going to explore myself, and I'm okay with that.

Her love life may seen just peachy now, but Gomez confesses she's had her heart broken in the past. "When I went through my first breakup, I thought it was the end of the world, and I thought I was going to die if I didn't have him in my life," she says. "It was good to cry it out and just scream, or call my friends in the middle of the night crying."

Speaking of relationships, Gomez says that she'll always have a special place in her heart for pal Demi Lovato, who recently completed treatment for emotional and physical issues. "There's an amount of love that can never - no matter the situation," says Gomez who calls 'best friend' labels "so ridiculous." "There are certain people who you will always, always love, so if anything, this is just reminded me of how much truly love her."

Brad Pitt's Going To War With Zombies

Are you ready for the zombie apocalypse? Brad Pitt is. The actor is set to star in the film version of World War Z, Max Brooks's 2006 novel that details first-person accounts of a "zombie war" that ravages the world. (Author - screenwriter Brooks is the son of Mel Brooks and the late Anne Bancroft.) Pitt's production company, Plan B, first secured the rights to World War Z in 2007, after a bidding war with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Company.

I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can," Brooks told MTV.com. Mireille Enos from AMC's The Killing was most recently cast to play Pitt's wife, and World War is slated to hit cineplexes (and your brains) next summer.

Phoebe Snow Dies

Phoebe Snow, a songwriter and contralto singer of the '70s hit "Poetry Man," died Tuesday in Edison, N.J., where she lived, her rep told the Los Angeles Times. She was 60 and had suffered a brain hemorrhage in January 2010.

According to a 1976 PEOPLE profile, Snow picked up her initial interest in music at home, where her mother was a former Martha Graham dancer and her father was a big-band buff who worked for an exterminating company. (Her actual surname was Laub; "Phoebe Snow" was borrowed from an Erie Lackawanna train.)

Phoebe's parents gave her the obligatory piano and guitar lessons, though her real inspiration came from jazz and blues records. School, according to the artist, was an agonizing exercise in social maladjustment. "All I wanted was to wear knee socks, plaid skirts and bangs and be inconspicous," she told PEOPLE. "But I stuck out like a sore thumb. I used to walk around with my notebook in my face.

She dropped out of Shimer College in northern Illinois and fled to Greenwich Village and the life of a quasi hippie, smoking dope and crashing on uppers and downers. An early boyfriend encouraged Phoebe to perform the stream-of-consciousness lyrics she'd been scrawling in her notebook for years.

Snow's break came after a record producer spotted her at amateur night at New York's Bitter End nightclub. Her first single, "Poetry Man," was hit in 1975, and its brooding, bluesy LP, Phoebe Snow, coined gold with a minimum of hype.

Her career took a backseat to caring for her daughter with the folksinger Phil Kearns. The girl, Valerie Rose Laub, was born in 1975 with severe brain damage and lived by Snow's side for 31 years. Snow later said Valerie's death left a vacancy in her life she did not know how to fill.

Shortly after Valerie's birth, Snow said the child was providing the serenity that would finally anchor her life. Snow gave up all drugs, even aspirin, and two other minor vices, Twinkies and cheesecake.

"I got off by being crazy in my younger days," she told PEOPLE. "Because I was irresponsible I didn't think I could manage myself and another person, too. Of course," she joked, "it's true that I'm still out of my mind. You have to be nuts to be in this business. But they're not going to get my kid."
